All-Inclusive Vacation Packages for 2027: Beach, City & Adventure Trips Compared

All-Inclusive Vacation Packages for 2027: Beach, City & Adventure Trips Compared

One label, three very different trips

"All-inclusive" on a Caribbean beach resort means your drinks, meals and usually your tips are covered. On a two-week all-inclusive tour of Peru, your guide, accommodation, and transportation may be covered, but most dinners will still be at your own expense. Both are sold as vacation packages, and comparing them without knowing the difference is how people end up over budget.

Demand for the beach version is booming. Searches for all-inclusive stays on Hotels.com rose 70% year on year in the first half of 2026, according to CoStar, and big hotel groups are opening new resorts to keep up. Guided city and adventure trips are growing too, as more travelers want someone else to handle the logistics.

This guide compares the three main types of package so you can see what your money actually buys.

Beach all-inclusives: what the big brands really include

The biggest difference between beach resort brands isn't the food or the pools. It's the small print on tips, drinks and extras. Two resorts with the same nightly rate can end up hundreds of dollars apart after a week.

What they cost

Rates move a lot by season, but 2026 examples give a sense of the range. They're per adult per night unless noted, and come from independent price guides rather than the brands.

•        Sandals: roughly $209 to $406 per person per night, from the cheapest resort to the most expensive, according to a 2026 cost guide. That works out to about $3,000 to $9,000 for a couple for a week.

•        Club Med Punta Cana: about $187 to $280 in September and October, rising to $400 to $550 from December to March, per an independent resort guide. Children under four stay free.

•        Hard Rock Punta Cana: about $308 to $380 a night for a double room in low season, and $450 to $600 or more at peak.

•        Excellence Playa Mujeres: from about $565 a night in shoulder season.

•        Europe for UK travelers: a week all-inclusive typically costs £900 to £1,500 per person including flights, with Spain averaging about £914, Türkiye £1,003 and Greece £1,038, according to AllInclusive.co.uk.

New resorts opening for 2027

Luxury brands are moving into all-inclusive, which is giving travelers more choice at the top end.

•        Grand Hyatt Cancun opens on December 10, 2026, the brand's first all-inclusive. It has 500 rooms and 14 restaurants, with rates from about $382 a night for one adult or $588 for two, reported The Points Guy.

•        Park Hyatt Riviera Maya is due to open on February 15, 2027, with rates from about $1,544 a night, per Caribbean Journal.

•        Club Med plans to open resorts in St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, Cap Skirring in Senegal and Gramado in Brazil in 2027, according to TTG India.

New resorts often launch with introductory offers, but they can also have teething problems in their first months. If you want a smooth first stay, book a resort that has been open for at least a season.

City packages: someone else handles the logistics

City packages come in two flavors. Short city breaks bundle a flight and hotel for two to four nights, and you explore on your own. Escorted tours link several cities with a tour director, a coach or train, and pre-booked entry to the big sights.

The second type costs more per day but saves a lot of time on tickets and transfers. For example:

•        EF Go Ahead's Venice, Florence and Rome tour runs nine days for about $3,459 to $4,179 per person without flights. It includes seven hotel nights, seven breakfasts, three dinners, a tour director, a coach and entry fees, with groups of 15 to 38, per the tour page.

•        Contiki's European Encounter, for 18- to 35-year-olds, covers 16 days from about $2,351, including 15 nights, all breakfasts and a few dinners. Average group size is around 41, according to Contiki.

•        Short breaks from the UK are often much cheaper: easyJet holidays has a whole category of city breaks at £250 per person or less, including flights, to places like Prague, Kraków and Lisbon.

Who they suit: first-time visitors to Europe, travelers who don't want to drive or navigate trains, and anyone who values guaranteed entry to places like the Vatican over free time.

The trade-off: on escorted tours, you often spend one or two nights per city. If you'd rather really get to know one place, a flight-and-hotel city break is better value.

Adventure tours: a local leader and a small group

Adventure packages are built around activities like hiking, cycling, wildlife and village stays, usually with 10 to 16 people and a local leader. Flights aren't included, and meals vary by trip.

Who they suit: solo travelers who want company, people visiting countries where transport is hard to arrange, and anyone who wants to be active every day.

The trade-off: you move at the group's pace, and some trips are physically demanding. Read the difficulty rating and the day-by-day itinerary carefully before you book.

How the three compare for a week

As a rough guide for one person in 2027, excluding flights: a week at a mid-range Caribbean all-inclusive such as Club Med in low season comes to around $1,300 to $2,000. A week of an escorted European city tour is about $2,700 to $3,200. And a week on a mid-priced adventure tour is roughly $1,200 to $2,300. The beach option includes almost all food and drink. The other two leave you paying for many meals yourself.

Is a package cheaper than booking it yourself?

Sometimes. Expedia says bundling a flight and hotel can save up to 22% on all-inclusive trips, but its own small print says the savings aren't available on all packages, per its all-inclusive page. "Up to" figures describe the best case, not the average. The only reliable test is to price the same flight and hotel separately on the same day, then compare.

Packages tend to win on beach holidays, where tour operators buy hotel rooms and flight seats in bulk. They tend to lose on city breaks, where you can often find a cheaper hotel by booking direct.

Protecting your money

The rules depend on where you book.

•        UK: packages that include a flight should come with an ATOL certificate. If the company fails, ATOL covers getting you home, your accommodation or a refund. Updated UK package travel regulations take effect for new contracts from April 6, 2027.

•        EU: the European Parliament approved a revised Package Travel Directive on March 9, 2026. Once countries adopt it, travelers will be able to refuse vouchers and ask for refunds, and will get faster answers to complaints, according to the European Parliament.

•        US: there's no national package protection scheme. Pay by credit card so you can dispute charges within 60 days of the statement, consider travel insurance, and check whether your tour operator belongs to the USTOA, whose program covers members' customers up to $1 million per company if an operator fails.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best type of vacation package?

It depends on what you want from the trip. A beach all-inclusive is best for relaxing with little planning. An escorted city tour suits first-time visitors to busy destinations. An adventure tour suits active travelers who want company and local expertise.

Are all-inclusive vacation packages worth it?

They usually are if you eat and drink mostly at the resort, and especially if tips and airport transfers are included. They're less good value if you plan to spend most days on excursions or eating out.

Do vacation packages include flights?

Beach and city-break packages often do. Most escorted and adventure tours don't, so add airfare when you compare prices.

When is the cheapest time to book a Caribbean all-inclusive?

Late spring and autumn are usually cheapest. At Club Med Punta Cana, for example, September and October rates are roughly half the December-to-March peak.

Which all-inclusive brands include tips?

Sandals, Beaches and Club Med include gratuities, and Excellence builds them into the rate. At many other brands, tipping is optional but expected, so check before you book.
